EVENT INFORMATION
Government contracting can be a minefield that sucks profits out of a project. Having a clear understanding of the critical parts of the Federal Acquisition Regulations System (FARs), and how to apply the regulations, is key for successful government contracting. In addition to an overview of the FARs, this seminar will concentrate on the pertinent and most used sections of the FARs that often present challenges and opportunities. It is not uncommon for a firm to save tens of thousands of dollars through proper characterization and documentation of overhead expenses, and then by knowing what FARs reference to use to defend a position if it is challenged. This seminar will include:
- Areas of the FARs where “form is more important than function.”
- How best to document and support overhead costs to avoid having them be disallowed.
- Controlling overhead rates…not too high…not too low.
- How to prepare for an overhead audit.
- Overhead audit pitfalls and recourse for disputes.
- Unique challenges presented by Washington State Department of Transportation Audits and possible solutions.
