2013 Spring Conference

The 2013 Spring Conference will be held at Campbell's Resort in Chelan, WA on May 9-11, 2013.

The conference theme is "From Survival to Growth," focusing on positioning your firm during this time of recovery. ACEC Washington is bringing three speakers within the industry for this conference.

The Spring Conference will also feature the "Passing of the Gavel" ceremony, where the new Chairperson of the Board and Board of Directors is sworn in.

About the Speakers

Curry W. Kirkpatrick, M&A Principal Invision BC&R
Curry Kirkpatrick is Invision BC&R’s M&A Principal. With a construction industry background that spans more than 30 years, including 25 years as an independent M&A consultant, Curry Kirkpatrick is one of the construction industry’s most experienced Mergers & Acquisitions consultant. His extensive experience has included buyer-side assignments for some of the industry’s largest firms, from search strategy, through identification of potential acquisition candidates, initial contact and negotiations, he has advised numerous ENR Top 500 design firms.

Representing prospective sellers is also a major part of his business - over the years CWK, Inc. has facilitated transactions for numerous small to mid-size firms located throughout the United States. Exposure to the needs and expectations of both buyer and seller has given Curry a unique ability to help the parties reach common ground on even the most sensitive issues. Curry has been a resource speaker and author on Mergers & Acquisitions for such noted industry groups and publications as Engineering News Record (ENR), ACEC, Civil Engineering Magazine, A/E Business Review, AGC, Constructor Magazine, AGCC, PSMA, and is co-author of PSMJ Resources’ book: How to Sell an A/E Firm.

Brandon Brodzky, CEO/Founder Invision BC&R
Brandon is the founder and CEO of nationally recognized, Invision BC&R - a “Growth Positioning and Implementation” consulting firm that works exclusively in the Design, Engineering and Construction industry. Brandon works with many of the most respected firms in the industry and is responsible for creating a unique model that has empowered Design, Engineering and Construction firms to effectively evolve and grow their business in some of the country’s most challenging geographies and markets to break into.

Joe Belden, Principal Belden, Hiramoto, Liu & Co., LLP
Joe Belden, as senior partner and leading the firm of Belden Hiramoto Liu & Co., LLP, has more than 38 years of accounting, auditing and tax planning/preparation experience. Joe graduated from California State University at Stanislaus with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting and economics in 1973 and was licensed as a CPA in 1975. Beginning his career, Joe worked in the Los Angeles office of Lester Witte & Company, a national mid-sized C.P.A. firm. He founded his own C.P.A. firm in Northern California in 1978, where he provided a variety of tax and accounting services.

After selling his practice in 1980, he relocated to Newport Beach, where he directed the small business department of Pannel Kerr Forster, another mid-sized national accounting firm. He left them in 1982 to establish what is today Belden Hiramoto Liu & Co., LLP, located in Costa Mesa. Joe continues to manage many audit, tax and consulting engagements with the firm’s diverse client base. Much of Joe’s consulting and tax expertise is in the areas of ownership transition, buy-sell agreements and profitability planning for a wide variety of clients.

Joe also leads the firm’s comprehensive and customized consulting services for its many professional service clients, which includes a large grouping of architectural, engineering and planning type companies.
